Residence Inn by Marriott Waco

I understand everyone's experience will be different, but mine personally was wonderful. Not only was the room very nice, but the staff was wonderful. I left a piece of jewelry in the hotel room that was very important to me, and the staff went above and beyond in helping to ship it back to me. They were so easy to talk to and so helpful. Close to things, and easy to walk to the Silos. Hotel overall is a little dated, but nothing that wouldn't make us want to stay there again. I truly believe having a great staff makes all the difference in your experience, and this hotel has that nailed down.

The room was nice, but that's as far as it goes. The "included" breakfast is about what you would expect. Nothing fancy or tasty. Coffee below average both in the eating area and what is provided in the room. Outdoor area was dirty and the tables on the patio were never clean. Seems like management doesn't seem to care about cleanliness or updating the furniture in the common areas. I suggest people stay at the Springhill Suites one block down; it is more modern, clean and free parking.

The staff are friendly and nice..The location is very close to everything like the magnolia and silos, dr Pepper, Brazos river, texas ranger hall museum. They had a lot of breakfast selection. The 2 things i Did not like was that the pool was cold and we had a towel with holes and rip in them, which was disappointing for a marriott property. This hotel is on a stop of the free trolley in town so you dont have to drive.

Let me start by suggesting that this is a great hotel if you are visiting the silos from our of town. However, this visit started out poorly as we were given the keys to a room that was already occupied. We saw bags in the room and immediately shut the door and went back to the front desk. An error was made and they compensated us with a few thousand points. We got into our next room, which was decent. They're decent size rooms for a couple and it was clean as well. The bed however was not comfortable at all and any movement I made, my wife felt. The pillows were also just mush and not supportive at all.

While the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, most everything else about this hotel was not worth the high prices. The only positives about our room was that there was almost a full kitchen in our studio, and that the AC worked really well. But there were a lot of little things that made our experience not so great. The bathroom smelled really musty and had mold on the ceilings and doorway, and the water pressure on the shower head was way too strong. The furniture was chipped and needed updating. The TV worked fine, but the remote barely worked and lagged by about 5 seconds. Housekeeping never came which was unfortunate because we had lots of garbage that needed to be taken out, but that was most likely just a timing issue on our end. Besides the room, the hallways smelled really strongly of cigarette smoke, and the entire style of this hotel is outdated. I could also hear people really clearly in their rooms from the hallway. The breakfast wasn't very good because the only things freshly made were the eggs and meat. Everything else (waffles, pastries, oatmeal, etc) were packaged individually and were hard in texture and too sugary. The eggs were also a really strange wet and fluffy texture and had weird seasonings. The coffee was also really weak, so we had to make our own. We didn't end up using the exercise room, but the pool room was way too hot and humid (despite not having a hot tub) so we only stayed for about 10 minutes.
